PRODUCT

Everything you need to grow a team on purpose

Skills, assessments, goals and surveys share one workspace and one cycle calendar, so every number connects to the same team.

Surveys

Team members get a simple My Surveys page: continue, pending and completed. Answer one category at a time with a progress bar.

Skill matrix

Members against disciplines and skills, scored N/A to 3 by managers. Per-member and per-skill averages, radar and bar charts, and a print view.

Maturity assessments

Pick a cycle, a team and an excellence area. Get an overall maturity score, a confidence level, category and per-question breakdowns, and an AI summary.

OKRs and journals

Objectives per cycle with key results, a burn-up chart for progress, and a journal feed so context stays next to the numbers.

CAPABILITIES

What ByteWork does, in detail

Everything below is available in the product today.

Disciplines and skills you define

Workspace owners build a library of disciplines, each with its own skills. Teams are assigned only the disciplines that apply to them, so the matrix reflects how that team actually works rather than a one-size-fits-all grid.

Scoring managers can trust

Team managers score each member on each skill using N/A, 0, 1, 2 or 3. Averages are calculated per member, per skill and for the whole team, and radar and bar charts per discipline make strengths and thin spots visible at a glance.

Assessments across excellence areas

Excellence areas are a ready-made catalogue of categories and questions. Pick an area, a team and a cycle to create an assessment run, then launch it, schedule it, complete it or cancel it as the cycle unfolds.

Maturity scores with a confidence level

Each run reports an overall maturity score alongside a confidence level, so you know how much weight a result deserves. Drill into categories and individual questions, and print the page for reviews.

AI insights on your own data

Insight cards on the skill matrix and on each assessment summarise what stands out in your team's scores. They are generated from your data and sit next to the numbers, so they are easy to check.

OKRs, burn-up and journals

Create objectives per cycle, attach key results with an owner, current value and target value, and follow progress on a burn-up chart. A journal feed on every objective keeps notes, decisions and context in one thread.

Surveys people actually finish

Team members get a focused My Surveys page that groups work into Continue, Pending and Completed. Surveys show one category at a time with a progress bar, so completing them takes minutes rather than an afternoon.

Assessment cycles keep everything aligned

Owners define monthly, quarterly or semi-annual cycles and mark one active. Surveys, assessments and OKRs all hang off the same cycle, so every team is measured on the same calendar.

Workspaces for every organisation

Each organisation has its own workspace. People who belong to more than one pick a workspace after signing in and can switch whenever they need to.

HOW IT WORKS

From setup to insight in three steps

01

Set up your workspace

Invite your people, form teams, define disciplines and skills, and set an assessment cycle (monthly, quarterly or semi-annual).

02

Score and assess

Managers score skills in the matrix, teams complete surveys, and assessment runs roll up into maturity scores with a confidence level.

03

Act on the insights

AI insight cards on the skill matrix and each assessment highlight where to focus. Track follow-through with OKRs and journal notes.

WHO IT'S FOR

Built for engineering orgs, not HR suites

ByteWork speaks in disciplines, skill levels, excellence areas and team structure from day one. Access follows the org: workspace owners run everything, team managers run their own teams, and members see what is theirs.

SECURITY AND ACCESS

Built for data that people care about

Skill and performance data is sensitive. ByteWork treats access control as part of the product, not an add-on.

Workspace isolation

Every request is tied to the workspace you selected at sign-in. Each organisation's data lives in its own workspace.

Multi-factor authentication

Protect accounts with an authenticator app and one-time backup codes. Users manage MFA and password changes from their security settings.

Owner audit log

Workspace owners see a log of what happened in the workspace, with category and date-range filters and a detail view for every entry.

Role-based access

Owners manage the whole workspace and team managers manage their own teams. Members complete their own surveys, and management controls are hidden from them. Access rules are enforced by the API, not just the interface.

Abuse protection

Sign-in, invite acceptance and password-reset endpoints are rate-limited per client, with temporary blocks on repeated attempts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how ByteWork works and how to get access.

What is ByteWork?

ByteWork is a team intelligence platform for engineering organisations. It combines a skill matrix, cycle-based maturity assessments, OKR tracking and skill surveys in one workspace, and adds AI-generated insights so managers can see where to focus next.

Can I sign up for ByteWork?

Registration is invite-only for now. Ask a workspace owner at your organisation for an invitation, and use the instructions in your invitation email. If you already have an account, sign in at https://app.bytework.io/login.

How does the skill matrix work?

Workspace owners define disciplines and skills. Each team is assigned the disciplines it needs, and team managers score every member on every skill from N/A through 0 to 3. The matrix shows per-member, per-skill and team averages, radar and bar charts per discipline, and a print view.

What is a maturity assessment?

An assessment run measures a team against an excellence area for a specific assessment cycle. Managers create and launch the run, team members respond, and once submissions are in the run page shows an overall maturity score, a confidence level, a per-category and per-question breakdown, and an AI summary.

How are AI insights generated and how should I use them?

The skill matrix and each assessment run show an insight card generated from your team's own scores. They highlight where attention is likely needed and are meant to guide a conversation, not to replace a manager's judgement.

How do OKRs work in ByteWork?

Managers create objectives for an assessment cycle, add key results with a description, owner, current value and target value, and follow progress on a burn-up chart. A journal feed on each objective keeps notes and context next to the numbers.

What are assessment cycles?

A cycle is a dated period, such as a month, quarter or half-year, that scopes surveys, assessments and OKRs. Owners create cycles and mark one as active, and the active cycle is preselected across the team pages.

Who can see and change what?

Workspace owners have full access to every team. Team managers manage their own teams: members, skill scores, team disciplines, assessments and OKRs. Other members complete their own surveys, and management controls are hidden from them. Roles are intentionally flat and simple.

How does ByteWork handle security?

Each organisation has its own workspace and every request is scoped to the workspace you selected. Accounts support authenticator-app multi-factor authentication with backup codes, workspace owners get an audit log with category and date filters, and sign-in endpoints are rate-limited.

Can I belong to more than one workspace?

Yes. After signing in you choose a workspace, and you can switch between the workspaces you belong to at any time.
